"Silent E", "Bossy E", "Magic E"

Vowels (a, e, i, o, u) are very tricky in the English language because depending on where they are in a word they make different sounds. Our spelling words this week (sit, site, kit, kite, plan and *plane) help us practice using both short and long vowel sounds. This fun "Magic E" video introduces students to the vowel-consonant-e (C-V-E) pattern that helps students recognize the different letter sounds.

Las vocales (a, e, i, o, u) son muy difíciles en el idioma Inglés ya que dependiendo de dónde se encuentren en una palabra hacen diferentes sonidos. Nuestras palabras de ortografía esta semana (sit, site, kit, kite, plan y *plane) nos ayudan a practicar el uso de las vocales a corto y a largo sonidos. Este divertido video "Magia E" introduce a los estudiantes al patrón vocal-consonante-e (CVE) que ayuda a los estudiantes a reconocer los sonidos que la letra diferente.

Shoe Box Project

Students need to bring in a shoebox and scrap material on Tuesday February 4th. They will be building a 3-D room from their house (bedroom, kitchen, living room, etc.) but only with scrap materials. Student may design the room at home with parents on paper but CANNOT build it at home! The website below will give you an idea of things they can bring in. Some suggestions would be little piece of scrap materials, Legos, dolls, cardboard, or magazine cutouts. Thank you for your participation with this project.  There will be an exhibition on February 13^th at 8:45 for the morning class and 12:45 for the afternoon class.

Los estudiantes deben traer una caja de zapatos y material de desecho el martes 4 de febrero. Ellos construiran un espacio 3-D de su casa (dormitorio, cocina, sala, comedor, etc), pero sólo con materiales de desecho. El estudiante puede diseñar la habitación en casa con los padres sobre  papel, pero no puede construir en casa! La página web más adelante le darán una idea de las cosas que pueden traer

Algunas sugerencias serían: pequeño pedazo de chatarra, Legos, muñecas, cartón, o recortes de revista etc. Gracias por su participación en este proyecto. Habrá una exposición el 13 de febrero a las 8:45 para la clase de la mañana y 12:45  para la clase de la tarde.
